ACC Internet Cribbage
Anderson and D'Elena join the
winners list
December 14, 2003:
Two more ACC Pegging Pals single elimination tournaments are in the
book, with two new winners to report!
On Saturday, December 6 it was John Anderson
(madison_wi) taking First Place after defeating a guest player in
the best-of-three finals. William MacMillan (Bristlecone0)
of Cheyenne, WY and Linda Partain (cheeky_parrot1) of
Haverhill, MA tied for Third Place, thus ensuring that all three ACC
regions (Western, Central and Eastern) would be represented in the final
four. That rarely happens on the Tournament Trail, except for some of
the biggest events (such as the ACC Open and Grand National), but ACC
Internet cribbage promises to make it a much more common occurrence than
before. Donald E. Ellis (+_LoneStar__) managed the 62-player
field most competently in his first gig as an ACC online tournament
director.
Five days later it was Michael D'Elena (RI971)
of Providence, RI taking the December 11 single elimination event.
D'Elena cut a 4 to 3-4-5-J at 112-109* to
defeat Billy Barnes (Billy_CA5177) of Red Bluff, CA in the
finals. Bob Milk (_VA437_Milk), the ACC's Internet
Cribbage Commissioner, tied for Third Place with a guest player. 46
players braved some adverse Internet conditions to participate this
Thursday night. Directors Joan Dulworth (+LovesPeace) and Donald
E. Ellis kept the event on an even keel.
So far, the ACC has hosted six Internet
tournaments at
MSN Games, all of which have been open to both ACC members and
non-members. Members have won five of the six events, and have accounted
for 19 of the 24 semifinalists. Congratulations ACC'ers. You are
acquitting yourselves well!
Like the other ACC Internet tournaments held so far, these events
were demonstration tourneys, and no IRPs have been awarded for them,
though the high finishers have been entered into the official ACC
record. We expect that the trial period for ACC Internet Cribbage will
end — and rated play will begin — sometime in the first quarter of 2004,
pending approval by the ACC Board of Directors. (back...)
