September 2005 wrap-up:
Scott Buhrow (MrB_IA218) of Louisville, turned in a 162
IRPs month, including one victory, to reach first place in our 2005–6
standings. Mark Van Dyke (loosespokes1135) of Grand Haven, MI
holds up second place, after finally ending his 11-month streak atop the
Top Ten list, including the 2005–6 Internet Championship. Right behind
him is veteran John Schafer (netview85) of Battle Creek,
MI.
Yes it's football season, but you can still watch and play ACC
Internet Cribbage:
September saw the ACC's first Sunday afternoon Internet tournaments.
These are already starting to attract players whose schedules make it
difficult to join our Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday events.
Appropriately enough, First Place in each of the two Sunday tourneys
went to first-time winners: Richard Winfield (rick98205)
of Everett, WA and Bob Bousquet (tinsmith_2) of Palmer,
MA. Other first-time winners this month were Harold Hilbert (hhilbert46)
of Beaumont, CA, Donald Dutcher (dutchd2) of Monmouth, OR
and John Dellarsina (ginprofessor3) of El Cajon, CA
(though John is only our second winner from El Cajon). Congrats to you
all.
TD's corner:
Don Ellis (+_LoneStar__), our Internet Statistician
and frequent tournament director, writes:
"Just had to share with you how wonderful all the players were in the
August 20 tourney. Midway through the first round, my mouse decided to
quit on me. Undaunted, I continued with the tourney. Took a bit longer
tabbing back and forth between windows, but all was well until my font
in the lobby changed. Thankfully, another Pegging Pals host (in player
nick) was in there and was 'translating' the assignments while I first
got Karen Peake (+Lady_Amber), and then Annie Poppe
(+Clas_syLady), on the phone to work through the tourney with me.
"All in all, everyone was so patient. I was unable to message any of
the players or to scroll the room to check the tables, but everyone
helped out. As I was unable to scroll, I closed the post table so had
everyone post in the lobby.
"Just another reason why I do the ACC tournaments almost
exclusively — the greatest, most understanding players in the world!"
