Tom Langford Crowned ACC Internet Champion
2006-2007 Season Wrap Up:
Tom Langford (yanknshank29) finished #1 for the
2006-2007 season holding off the surging Ray Fischer (Stinger96).
Tom heads up our All-Internet team for this year. Each member of
the 2006-2007 All-Internet Team receives an invitation to the ACC TOC
held in in Reno during February 2008.
The top 10% of point earners will receive invitations to the
ACC TOC held in February. 154 peggers earned IRPs during the
2006-2007 season. In addition to the All- Internet Team, 6
additional
individuals earned invitations to the ACC TOC held in Reno during
February 2008.
Everyone should remember that Scott Buhrow won the 2006 TOC
this past February. Scott received his invitation to the TOC
from his participation in the ACC Internet Program.
Our Tournament Directors (TDs) held 210 tournaments during the
season. The TDs held both our single-elimination and Cribbage Cup
formats. The TDs introduced Manual Scoring to the Cribbage Cup.
New eMasters
Tom Lewis and Donald Olney reached the level of of
eMaster. With Tom and Don attaining this level, six ACC members
have reached the level of eMaster.
The six eMasters will receive their awards
at the 2007 Grand National in Portland, Maine during the awards
ceremony.
Lifetime IRPs
In response to a frequent request, a new page that shows the Lifetime
IRPs has been developed. There is a link to
Lifetime IRPs on the sidebar on the
right-hand side of the page. This is based on the end of the
season database table developed by Don Ellis our statistician.
Research is underway on an approach to automatically update this
information each month.

New Emaster!
Mike Fetchel has reached the level of eMaster. Mike is
the fourth player to attain this level. Mike joins Mark van Dyke,
Scott Buhrow and John Schafer as eMasters.
The sidebar on the right-hand side now contains a new page 'eMaster
Statistics.
June 2007 Wrap Up:
It looks like Tom Langford (yanknshank29) has a
stranglehold on first place with only one month left in the season.
Remember the top 10% of point earners will receive invitations to the
ACC TOC held in February. Thus far 154 peggers have earned IRPs
for the season.
With one month left in the standings there is still a little time for folks to move up in the standings. As you
can see, there are seven folks who have recorded all the points they can
reach in their first 100 tournaments. With one month remaining,
there may still be shakeup in the top 10 as there are many players just
shy of the top 10.
Our Tournament Directors have held 190 tournaments so far this year.
Important:
The Tournament Directors will appear at the tournament rooms about 30
minutes before the tourney.
May 2007 Wrap Up:
Tom Langford (yanknshank29) continues to hold
onto his first
place lead. Ray Fischer (Stinger96) has moved into
2nd Place.
There are still 2 months left in the season so there is
a lot of time left for folks to move up in the standings. As you
can see, there are three folks who have recorded all the points they can
reach in their first 100 tournaments. With 2 months remaining,
there will be shakeup in the top 10 as there are many players just shy
of the top 10.
Our Tournament Directors have held 171 tournaments so far this year.
April 2007 Wrap Up:
Tom Langford (yanknshank29) extends his first
place lead over the rest of the field.
There are still 4 months left in the season so there is
a lot of time left for folks to move up in the standings. As you
can see, there are two folks who have recorded all the points they can
reach in their first 100 tournaments. With 3 months remaining,
there will be shakeup in the top 10.
Our Tournament Directors have held 154 tournaments so far this year.
The winner of the first manual scoring Cribbage Cup was Sheila
Crete (damonsmom).

March 2007 Wrap Up:
Tom Langford (yanknshank29) surged into first
place as Robert M. Maupin (fred451)has reached the limit
of 100 games. As you can see there is a 3-way tie for 9th
position. There are still 4 months left in the season so there is
a lot of time left for folks to move up in the standings.
Our Tournament Directors have held 136 tournaments so far this year.
Beginning with April's Cribbage Cup tournaments, all Cribbage Cup
tournament will require manual/self-scoring.
Cribbage Cup to be Manual Scoring
beginning April 17
Beginning with the first Cribbage Cup
tournament in April (April 17), the Cribbage Cup tournaments will
require MANUAL SCORING. At
the present time, the tournaments on Mondays, Thursday, Saturdays
and Sundays will continue as they are.
I recommend that everyone practice so that they
get use to the counting during play and counting the hands and cribs
and scoring manually. The pace of the games will slow down,
but they still will be faster than over-the-board. As peggers
get more experience with manual scoring, the pace of the game will
increase.
A hint from one who has used the manual
option many times; take three steps to score during the play and
counting your hand and crib.
1. Select the score from the
drop-down/pull-down list.
2. Release the mouse button and
verify your chosen score
3. Click on score
You can do it in one motion, but you will
may find that you make many mistakes that way. At least that
is what happens to me.
There is one anomaly. Never take the
1-point for last card or add 1-point for last card. It does
this automatically.
Zeke Veradt (Gramp-zv) Memorial Tournament on March 18
The Game Colony Tournament Directors (not the
ACC Internet TDs) are hosting a Memorial Tournament for Zeke Veradt
(Gramp-zv) on Sunday, March 18th at 5 PM.
This tournament costs 10-TIX and is NOT an ACC Internet
Tournament. The Zeke Veradt Memorial Tournament will be
held in the Game Colony Tournament room and NOT in the ACC Room.
Zeke passed away this past Sunday. I went
to his wake last evening, Thursday, March 15, and I believe that at
least 50% of his friends that were in attendance were Zeke's ACC
friends.
Important Information
1. Daylight
Savings Time arrives early this year and will be in effect
on Sunday, March 11, 2007. Please be sure to
adjust your clocks accordingly or remember to come one hour earlier
if you are in a location that does not change times.
2. We are still
experiencing some members that have not updated their screen names
since the ACC's move to Game Colony for internet play. Pursuant to
the ACC's Rules of Internet Play, Rule 3 states that players "must
be certified by the ACC for Internet play" and that "Only ACC
members certified for Internet play at the time of the tournament
will receive IRPs for that tournament." Even if you are using the
same screen name that you may have used at MSN Games, you
must re-register and be certified for play at Game Colony
using the form found at
http://www.cribbage.org/internet/reg.asp.
3.
Occasionally, we find out that you have
characters in your screen names that prevent messages from appearing on
the screen. Characters/words/phrases such as freeze, help, cookie,
bluff, plus any set of characters that might be construed a a 'naughty'
word. When this happens, we ask that you get a new screen
name and register the new screen name. This is outside our
control; however, it falls into Game Colony's code of conduct.
Thank you for your understanding.
February 2007 Wrap Up:
Robert M. Maupin (fred451) continued extending his first place
lead to 87 points over Dan Crete (creech1), but
he has reached the the 'count' limit of 100 tournaments which are
accumulated annual totals. There are
many players who could claim the crown.
Our Tournament Directors have held 116 tournaments so far this year.
The big news from Reno is that Scott Buhrow (MrB_IA218)
won the ACC Tournament of Champions. There were many internet
players, led by Jennifer Buhrow (ACCPrincess), cheering
Scott on. It was good to meet many of you, especially the
two of our dedicated TDs, Gerald Oxford (_TheOx_1) and
Cathy Polmaskitch (GEM1NI).

Scott Buhrow wins TOC
Scott Buhrow (MrB_IA218), pegging out of Tennesee,
bested a field of over 560 peggers to be crowned the winner of the 2007
ACC Tournament of Champions.
In a hard-fought final round, Scott defeated Warren Sondericker from
Milwaukee, taking the best of 5 by a score of 3-2. Warren, a Life
Master Two-Star, was seen trying to sell his soul to the devil in the
final game, but Scott overcame this plea.
Scott also qualified in the ACC Open and reached the playoffs!
Scott is the first player from the ACC Internet Program to win this
prestigious event.
I congratulate Scott on his fine showing in the TOC.
January 2007 Wrap Up:
Robert M. Maupin (fred451) extended his first place
lead to 60 points over Tom Langford (yanknshank29), but
only his next 15 tournaments count in the annual totals. There are
many players who could claim the crown.
Our Tournament Directors have held 99 tournaments so far this year.
I hope to see many of you in Reno at the ACC Open and the Tournament
of Champions!
Nov & Dec 2006 Wrap Up:
Robert M. Maupin (fred451) took the lead at the end of
the year and maintains a 3-point lead over Dan Crete (creech1).
Only 12 points separate the top 5.
Our Tournament Directors have held 81 tournaments so far this year.
I hope to see many of you in Reno at the ACC Open.
Players of the Month:
November Player of the Month.
With two tournament wins during the month,
Marilyn Gaudreau (mohini29) is the November Player of
the Month.
December Player of the Month.
With two tournament wins in 5 days during December,
John Schafer (netvuew85) is the November Player of the
Month. Honorable Mention go to
Tom Lewis (pegfast2)
and Dan Crete (creech1) who both had two wins in
December.
Delay in Updates:
Because of the severe illness and the passing of Don Ellis' mother,
the statistics for November were delayed. The next updates will
occur in January 2007.
First eMasters:
Our first eMasters have been recognized. These folks reached
this award level at the end of the 2005-2006 Season.
- Mark Van Dyke
- Scott Buhrow
At the end of October these two are joined by:
Congratulations for attaining eMaster!
October 2006 Wrap-up:
Jim Hatch (NHPegger) maintained a slim hold onto
first postion in the standings. Roberrt M. Maupin (fred451)
and Gary Wirth (VertiGoAway)
are just 3 points behind.
Our TDs enjoyed a fun time in Reno during the last weekend in
October. They met up with other TDs and had their own tournament.
Just to show that our TDs also know how to peg, Gemini whose real
name is Cathy Polmaskitch (amazed_in_ohio) won a
tournament on October 21.
Change in Tournament Schedule.
Because each of the ACC Tournament Directors will be at a tournament,
the following tournaments will be cancelled:
- October 26
- October 28
- October 29
I wish each of the TDs a wonderful time, great cards, and "Happy
Pegs"!
Bob
August/September 2006 Wrap-up:
Jim Hatch (NHPegger) sprinted to the top of the
standings after the first 2 months of play. Robert M. Maupin (fred451)
is close behind in second position with John Schafer (netview85)
in the third spot.
Our first tournament of the season, which coincidentally was our
first on Game Colony, which we called "The ACC/Game Colony
Inaugural", was won by Richard May (rcmay5).

News from the ACC Board of Directors Meeting
September 29, 2006
The ACC Board of Directors Meeting was held on September
29, 2006 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. The following ACC Internet
Cribbage topics were submitted for proposal proposed and were accepted
by the Board of Directors.
1. Award Levels
Members will accumulate Internet Rating Points and be
awarded certificates for reaching specified levels. These levels
are:
eMaster -
2000 IRPs
eGrand Master - 4000 IRPs
eLife Master - 6000 IRPs
eOne Star - 10,000 IRPs
eTwo Star - 15,000 IRPs
eThree Star - 20,000 IRPs
eFour Star - 25,000 IRPs
and so on by 5,000 IRPs.
Once a player attains eMaster, they
will receive an automatic invitation to the annual ACC Tournament of
Champions.
I believe that there are a couple
of players who have accumulated sufficient points to reach eMaster and
several additional players not far behind. I will be reviewing the
lifetime statistics and will make the announcements shortly.
2. Certificates of Achievement
The ACC Board of Directors approved the development of
Certificates of Achievement for the ACC Internet Cribbage program.
Lois Fosdal, the Assistant Internet Statistician, will lead the design
of the Certificates of Achievement that follow the standard ACC format
for certificates. The design(s) will be presented to the ACC Board
of Directors for their approval at their next meeting in February.
Certificates of Achievement will be for those individuals who attain the
various levels and for the top 10 point earners. Once approved in
February 2007, certificates will be produced for all top 10 finishers
going back to the first three seasons plus those who attain the award
levels.
3. Study for the Feasibility of Fee-Based
Internet Tournaments
The ACC Board of Directors approved the study for the
feasibility of fee-based internet tournaments. I received many
requests for holding fee-based tournaments. At this time there
will be a study to determine if the ACC should support fee-based
tournaments.
August/September 2006
The updates to the standings and the news is being
delayed. This is because the statistician had to replace his
computer. No results were lost but he needs to rebuild the
databases and bring them up to current. It is expected to be
complete around the middle of October.
