July 2009 Wrap Up:
End of 2008-2009 Season
With a great burst of speed during the final month, Tom Langford (yanknshank)
leaped pass the top 3 leaders from last month to claim 1st
place. Mark Van Dyke (loosespokes). finished

who played this season.
207 players earned Internet Rating Points (IRPs) this season.
Therefore 21 players will receive invitations to the ACC Tournament of
Champions for February 2010.
The TDs held 17 tournaments during May for a total of 201
tournaments this season.
New eMaster
No players reached the eMaster plateau during July. During
this season, the following reached the 2000 IRP plateau to reach eMaster:
- Allen Nypen (A0939)
- Davis Hardy (novatx237)
- Marilyn Gaudreau
(mohini29)
- William A.
Schultz (floydandzep)

- Lois M. Fosdal (Ezmerelda)
These folks will receive their eMaster award at the Grand National
award banquet in Grand Rapids, MI.
Grand eMaster
No players reached the Grande eMaster plateau during the season.
It takes 4000 IRPs to reach Grand eMaster. Both Mark Van Dyke (loosespokes)
and Mike Fetchel (mfetchCT425)
have a good shot of reaching this milestone during next season.
Player of the Month:
By virtue of winning both an ACC Single-Elimination Tournmanet and a
Cribbage Cup tournament during June, Tom Langford (yanknshank)is
the player of the month for July 2009.

tournaments this season.

May 2009 Wrap Up:
Important: The ACC Internet
Program is down to two tournament directors. Additional
volunteers are needed as tournament directors. If additional
tournament directors are not identified, we may need to cu back on ACC
Internet tournaments or possibly end the program.
You may notice some shifting from last month as we forgot to stop
accumulating when folks reached the 125th tournament. I believe
this is corrected this month.
Mark Van Dyke (loosespokes) vaulted into first
place and holds a huge 105 point lead on Mike Fetchel (mfetchCT425).
David Carter (DG-CAR)
jumped from nowhere into the 10th position. You will notice that
we are up to 21 players listed as this is 10% of the number of players
who IRPs this year.
Remember, you can earn IRPs during the first 125 tournaments
in which you play. This is an increase from prior years.
Some of the top players have already reached this limit with 2 months to
go.
The TDs held 16 tournaments during May for a total of 168
tournaments this season.
During July, there are no ACC Internet Tournaments on
Independence Day, Saturday July 4.

April 2009 Wrap Up:
Ron Larson (cribbie11)
sprinted from 4th position into first place plus a 39 point lead in the IRP
race. Mark Van Dyke (loosespokes) and Mike Fetchel (mfetchCT425)
swapped 2nd and 3rd positions this month. Valerie Nozick (atlchica3)
also had a great month coming from out of the top 20 into 9th position

March 2009 Wrap Up:
Michelle Barthelmess (Frazu2) vaulted past the top
several peggers to claim first place plus a 30 point lead in the IRP
race. Mike Fetchel (mfetchCT425)

This month there is also a 3-way tie for 10th position.
There seems to be several new names in the winners circle this
month. Congratulations! AND Welcome.
Remember, you can earn IRPs during the first 125 tournaments
in which you play. This is an increase from prior years.
The TDs held 12 tournaments during March for a total of 136
tournaments this season.

on their server farm.
February 2009 Wrap Up:
Mark Van Dyle (loosespokes) crept past Ron Larson (cribbie11)
and has a shaky 3 point lead on first place. You will notice
a 4-way tie for 19th position. If there is a tie in the last
position at seasons end, all the ties in this position will receive an
invitation to the TOC.
Remember, you can earn IRPs during the first 125 tournaments
in which you play. This is an increase from prior years.
The TDs held 13 tournaments during February. for a total of 119
tournaments this season. Remember there were no ACC Internet
tournaments during the ACC TIC and pen period.
Please Arrive Early For ACC Internet Tournaments:
Please try to show up at least 10 minutes before the start of the ACC
Internet Tournaments. The TDs find it difficult to identify
everyone who waits until the last minute to register. This will
make it easier on the TD and will help ensure that the TDs do not miss
entrants.
Player of the Month:
By virtue of winning two tournaments on consecutive days during
February,
Graeme Gossett (effeff71)
is the player of the month for February 2009.
Return of Cribbage Cup
We are still looking at holding a Cribbage Cup in April or possibly
May.

Message from ACC President
Hello Internet Players,
just a note to let you know I am thinking about you. I do not play on
the internet but hope to someday. I have heard so many good things
about internet play and a few bad things. We are still in the early
stages of the Internet segment of the ACC. I am sure that it will
continue to grow and adapt to the wishes of the players, much like the
Grass Roots and Tournament parts of the ACC have. Under the direction
of Commissioner Bob Milk and the Internet Committee, the progress has
been steadily going forward with points, awards and tournament
improvements. Please thank them for their efforts, as they are doing
this work on a voluntary basis. One other thing, if you feel you can
volunteer as a tournament director, Bob says they are in short supply,
so please contact him. And last but not least, please compete with
dignity and respect for your opponents. Best of luck in the New
Year.......Jeanne
Internet Meet & Greet in Reno
There has been several requests for a Meet & Greet in Reno. It
looks like the best time to have this is on Friday, February 6
immediately following the Cribbage Bowl, 6:30 pm) The location
will be the Sports Bar area. See you there.
Also, I believe that Damien Blonde from eCribbage.com will have a
display in Reno. I recommend that everyone check it out.
December 2009 Wrap Up:
There have been a lot of complaints from new players about the
rudeness of many regarding slow play. I and the TDs have observed
this rudeness and several new players have even taken the time to phone
me.
If we want both the ACC to grow, this includes internet, grass
roots, and the general membership, we must show patience to new players,
that is players new to the ACC and to the format of the tournament.
I have seen many folks play in only 1 (one) ACC Tournament, Grass Roots
club, or internet, because of the pressure and/or rudeness of
experienced players
Ron Larson (cribbie11) jumped over Mark Van Dyle (loosespokes)
to take over first olace. Ronald E Boule (boomboom_ron),
Barbara Larson (abby5) and Rick Allen (45556)
round out the top 5. Mike Fetchell (
mfetchCT425) also jumped into the top 10.
The TDs held 16 tournaments during November for a total of 89
tournaments this season.
November 2009 Wrap Up:
Mark Van Dyle (loosespokes) maintained his top
position. James Gear (Gearer) and Michelle
Barthelmess (Frazu2) came from outside the top 10% up to
positions 4 and respectively. Mike Fetchell (
mfetchCT425) also jumped into the top 10.
The TDs held 19 tournaments during November for a total of 73
tournaments this season.
New Tournament Directors
We would like to welcome David Bowen to the ranks
of our TDs. David trained
during September with Don
Ellis and
Cathy Polmaskitch and is doing a fine job. David
will be running the bulk of the Saturday tournaments on our schedule.
Over the next few weeks you will see Debbie Cook
working with our TDs, particularly on Sundays. As
with all of our TDs, Debbie is volunteering her time to monitor the
tournaments. We ask for your
continued patience and understanding as we increase the number of
trained TDs, who all have the goal of offering you the best online
tournament experience!
Important Notice:
Don Ellis Stepping Down
Don Ellis is stepping down from the ACC Internet Cribbage
Program effective end of day on November 30, 2008. Don has served
selflessly as the ACC Statistician, TD leader and TD.
The ACC Internet Committee thanks Don for the outstanding job he has
done over the past 5+ years as the
ACC Internet Statistician, Leader of the Tournament Directors, and
Tournament Director.
Don's efforts directly contributed to the success of the ACC Internet
Cribbage Program.
For those who would like to send an email to Don thanking him for his
service, please send it to him @:
lonestardon55@satx.rr.com
New Statistician
I would like to introduce our new ACC Internet Cribbage Statistician,
Rick Allen. Rick was the first statistician prior to Don
assuming that responsibility. Rick is assuming the responsibility
for this on December 1, 2008. Don will be forwarding all the files
and database once the November close out is completed. Thank you
Rick for stepping up to fill this position.
New Lead TD
Jerry Oxford has stepped up to the position of Lead TD. Jerry
will be responsible for the TD scheduling as well as TD training.
Thank you Jerry for stepping up to fill this position.
Important Notice:
Temporary Suspension of
Cribbage Cup
Cribbage Cup play has been temporarily suspended at least through
December 2008. The present slate of TDS have a conflict with ACC
Grass Roots play on Tuesday. Once we have a TD that does not have
a conflict or we can identify a better day for Cribbage Cup play, play
will resume.
Patience is a Virtue
It would be nice if everyone would showed patience while playing in
ACC Internet Cribbage tournaments. If the match finishes on or
ahead of the allowed time, one does not display 'good sportsmanship'
when one complains that there is slow play. There can be many
reasons for slow play, including, but not limited to:
- New to cribbage
- Limited internet cribbage experience
- Slow or intermittent internet connection
- Difficult hands and board position
When a player is new to cribbage or has limited internet cribbage,
that player can be turned off, not only to ACC Internet play, but also
to the ACC in general, when you complain about slow play. If you
embarrass them by complaining in the lobby, they most likely will never
play with us again.
Remember, if you opponent does not have have a fast or a good
connection, frequently I play on a 28.8 dial-up... talk about slow, then
their play might be slower than you like; it does no good to complain
about it. There are times when you have to take time to think
about your discards and play based on the cards and/or board position.
Not everyone plays at the same speed. If you think your
opponent is deliberately playing slow so that time expires before the
match has ended, the
appropriate step for you to take is to send a 'private message' to the
TD. You do this by clicking on their name in the left-hand list.
In your message indicate the first three characters as "PM:" then your
message of slow play. After the message is sent, then click on
"Everybody."
Complaining in the lobby to everyone about slow play, when you
complete your match on time, not only shows a lack of patience on your
part, it also demostrates poor sportsmanship.
This is not a race to see who finishes their match first; you do not
earn anything for being one of the early finishers.
We are here to have a fun experience playing a game we all love.
Lets enjoy it.
Important Notice: Tournament Start Times.
I have received many complaints about, and I have observed, the
late start of tournaments; and the start time is getting later and
later.
Effective immediately, the ACC Internet Tournaments will start
at the scheduled times.
First, The TDs will start the running of the rules 5 minutes before
the scheduled start time.
Any player who has not been assigned a place in the tournament or who
has not requested to join the tournament aka "In Please" by the time
the TD has started the running of the rules (5 minutes before the
scheduled start time) will be ruled ineligible for that tournament.
It is unfair to those who arrive at the requested time to wait for
those who show up late for the tournaments.

October 2009 Wrap Up:
Mark Van Dyle (loosespokes) leaped over the top 13 in September to stake a claim on first place.
Mark also has the lead in ACC internet tournament victories with 36 and
is the top IRP earner with 3425 IRPS. Both Richard Shea
(610inchabs) and Pat LLewellyn (Pllew) made their first appearance in the top 10.
The TDs held 18 tournaments during October for a total of 54
tournaments this season.

Monday and Thursday Tournaments
Effective October 1, 2008, the Monday and Thursday night ACC
Internet Tournaments will return to the previous format - Best 2 of 3
and with automatic scoring. After discussing the
difficulties with manual scoring at the Board of Directors meeting and
the fact the members are not supporting these two tournaments with this
format, it was agreed that the reurn to the previous format was the
right way to go. The format of the Cribbage Cup will remain
in its format.
Increase in the Number of Tournaments for Earning IRPs
Effective this season, ACC members can earn Internet Rating Points (IRPs)
in the first 125 tournaments in which they play. This is up
from the previous limit of the first 100 tournaments. The ACC
Internet Committee received many request for an increase and a majority
of the Committee agreed to an increase to the first 125 tournaments in
which one plays.
Grand National Meet & Greet
Jenn Buhrow (ACCPrincess29), our unofficial social
director, is organizing a Meet & greet for all ACC Internet cribbage players attending the
Grand National. The location for
this get together will be the atrium of the Holiday Inn - Portland
Airport. The time will be after the "Early Bird" around 5:15 pm or
so. You can email Jenn for more information at:
accprincess29@aol.com.
We hope every one can make it out to Portland for the Grand National
and the ACC Internet Cribbage Meet & Greet.
